Zhan Wang Studio, Beijing

Client: Art Now Hotel, Beijing

Two friends and I went to Beijing for a hotel project. We were treated royally. Two girls were also attached to us as guides and they took us everywhere we wanted to go. So we were sitting there in a discrete black car with a private chauffeur and just gave directions. All very pleasant. Anyway… at the time there was a very well known Chinese artist with the name of Zhan Wang. His trademark was huge rock formations made to look like mercury. Big chrome like boulders that ended up at airports, museums and in private collections.
By chance or by luck we were granted a visit to Mr Wang’s studio circa one-hour drive outside Beijing. It was all very exiting. Mr Wang welcomed us with open arms (Chinese style) as artist friends and gave us to grand tour around his enormous complex.

Photo shows scribble on sliding steel doors in his studio.
